Computer Screen Magnifier

A Computer Screen Magnifier is a large rigid magnifier that is to be positioned in front of your computer screen monitor. This makes everything appear much larger without having to buy a bigger computer monitor.

It enables people with low vision to be able to read small monitors without having to install anything. Computer magnifying screens also don’t use up any power, so you won’t have to worry about your electricity being drained.

There are many companies selling magnifying computer screens for reasonable prices. Many companies also have various software and other read-easy products to buy to help you read fine print.

They can also be used for televisions, making it appear much bigger than it actually is.

Another great feature of computer screen magnifiers is that they have a built in filter system which protects your eyes from harmful and irritating sun rays and glares. They’re also incredibly easy to install onto your monitor; many screen magnifiers simply hang on top of your monitor, creating a bigger clearer image in mere seconds.

These make a perfect gift to anyone who has low vision that loves computers or watching television, they’re also perfect for anyone who is interested in hobbies like graphics, as you can really see clearly what you’re doing. With the simple installation and many bonuses, it’s really worth buying one. Most aren’t very expensive either, so it won’t dig a hole in your pocket.

What is a computer magnifier screen? A computer magnifier screen is a non electrical screen that attaches to the front of your desktop or laptop monitor; it has a fixed magnification grade that allows for you to enlarge the image on your screen. Fixing Zoom Issues

Last week my daughter got onto my computer. She’s a toddler, so she banged on the keys for a little while, got bored and wandered away. Well, when I went to use the computer again, I discovered that she had done something that cause that bar, that is normally on the bottom of the screen, to jump up the the right side of my screen instead. As well, my internet screen was zoomed in.

After much frustration, not to mention time, I figured out how to fix everything. Naturally, I’m writing about it here, in order to help other people that may have pat a cake happy toddlers around their computers!

So, my first problem was that I could not, for the life of me, get the bar to move back down to the bottom, where I am comfortable with it! I tried to click and drag, but it was not happening. I tried a few other things, looking through my computer to see if I had to go into a program to change it, but all to no avail.

No, I guess I am just a little bit computer illiterate because I eventually realized that the silly thing was LOCKED! So, to unlock it, I right clicked on it, which worked, allowing me to click and drag it back down where it belongs.

Now, to fix the internet, I had to right click on my desktop, go into properties and change my display settings. The higher the better, or so I’ve been told!

And now I have learned to never, ever let my kids near my computer again!

Using your Computer Magnifier

How to Use Your Computer Magnifier and How to Turn it Off.

Below are directions for how to turn you computer magnifier on. I had a bit of a hard time figuring out how to get the magnifier on when I wanted it. I ALSO had a hard time getting rid of it when I was done. Because of this and the fact that so many people end up stuck with the magnifier on as well, I have also included instructions that explain how to get rid of the magnifier. I really hope that these instructions will help anyone that needs it!

 Turning it on:

Directions: Step 1 – Open your Start Menu. Step 2 – Go to All Programs, then  Accessories, Accessibility, and then Magnifier. Step 3 - Edit settings. Step 4 - Check for a Rectangular bar on your screen and a small window for your settings. Step 5 - To keep your Magnifier, don’t click the exit button.

Turning it off:

Directions: Step 1. Go to your desktop. Step 2. Right click a space without icons. Step 3. Go into Properties. Step 4. Click the settings tab. Step 5. Set “Monitor Resolution” Higher (highest is the best) Step 6. Hit apply

And there you have it!

How to fix your computer resolution

So, I had been messing around with my computer when I realized that I had done something that caused everything to get bigger. It was as if the magnifier was turned on, but when I tried to turn it off nothing would happen, it didn’t help to fix the problem. It was extremely annoying! It was so bad that some of my programs wouldn’t work because everything was just too big!

To help fix the problem, I decided that I would search around on the internet. Well, surprisingly, I came across a ton of other people that were having the same problem as me! To be honest, it made me feel a lot better. So, I want to help those people, by explaining how I fixed the problem!

Basically, I went into my computer’s properties, I did this by right clicking on my desk top. Then I went into settings and monitor resolution and I corrected the problem from there. They say that the higher you set it the better, so I set it to the highest setting I could.

It seems so easy now that I know, but it took a little research for me to figure it all out!

Fixing You Computer Resolution

I bought a computer recently and there seemed to be a problem with it. When I turned it on, everything was huge. It was like the magnifier was on, but I couldn’t get it off. I couldn’t use any of the programs because everything was too big. I was so frustrated, I was ready to bring the whole thing back and get a refund!

I decided that I would check out the internet for ways to bring the magnification down first, just in case there was something obvious going on. I did a bit of research and was told on a website that I should hit control + zero, but it didn’t work.

It was explained to me that if I was using Vista I could right click on my desk top, go into properties and fix the resolution from there. Unfortunately, my computer uses Windows XP. I was disappointed, but decided to give this way a try anyway, just in case.

So, I right clicked on my desktop, went into properties, then settings and then monitor resolution. I set the resolution to the highest available and clicked “apply.”

When the window closed, everything was fixed and my computer was back to normal. I was so ecstatic that I didn’t have to bring it back!

If you have this same problem, please, take my advice and follow the steps that I did, you will not be sorry!

I work in an office five days a week and noticed last year that my computer monitor was giving me severe headaches. I did a lot of research online and realized that this problem I was having, is actually really common. That is the reason that I am writing this. I have tried several different things and I believe that I can help some other people.

My problem was that I worked in a cubicle with very little natural light. There were the usual office lights on the ceiling, but I’m sure we know how nice that light is! I was also using a CRT monitor. For my first attempt to remedy these headaches, I put a 3M filter screen on. Sadly, I must admit that this really did not help at all. Even changing to an LCD monitor did little to no good, and when I put the 3M filter on that i noticed no difference at all.

It dawned on me that, perhaps my problem was the light itself, so I ran out and bought myself one of those natural lights that reproduce sun light. The light certainly did not give me the impression that it mimicked sunlight though, it was more like, just a bright white light. Obviously, this didn’t help me at all, I continued to get the headaches and continued to search for a way to fix it.

I went as far as to have the ergonomics guy at my company come and check everything out. He said that all was well, there was no glare from the ceiling lights, that I sit at the right distance from the screen and the right height. He had no explanation as to why my computer monitor might be giving me headaches.

I had almost given up on ever finding a fix for these headaches, when I stumbled upon the answer! Well, it’s actually a series of answers. First, I went out and bought a small desk lamp that had a soft white light. With the lamp I noticed a difference, but I started to notice even more of a difference when I made an effort to look away from the screen every 10 – 15 minutes. These two methods helped me immensely, but what completely got rid of the headaches was when I reduced the brightness of my screen. Between the lamp, being sure to look away and the reduced brightness, I have not had a headache in weeks!

I hope that my experiences can help someone else with their computer monitor headaches.
